| Police Arrest Dealer for Not Paying Tax |

 A former Florida used-car dealer has been arrested on charges that he stole more than $130,000 in sales tax he collected from customers, but failed to send in to the state.
Biel Semexant, Jr., the former owner of Smart Carz, LLC, and Auction Access USA, was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff's Office on Dec. 4 on felony charges relating to theft of state funds, filing a false or fraudulent return, and failure to file six consecutive returns. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, as well as possible repayment of stolen tax, interest, penalty and investigative costs. Semexant's dealerships were located on North Dixie Highway in Wilton Manors.

| CFPB Proposes Policy Test |

 The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced its proposed policy to allow companies to test new consumer disclosures on a case-by-case basis.
As part of its Project Catalyst initiative, and in line with its statutory authority, the Bureau's goal is to encourage banks, credit unions, and other financial services companies to propose and conduct trial disclosure programs.

| FTC Announces New Consumer Chief |

 The Federal Trade Commission recently announced some management changes.
David C. Vladeck, director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, is leaving the agency on Dec 31 to return to a faculty position at Georgetown University Law Center. Charles A. Harwood, who has been a deputy director in the Bureau for the past three years, will serve as acting director.
